Tomorrow is Monday

April 27, 2008

And tomorrow, uni will be starting again.

Bring on the seemingless ending lectures and labs. Bring on the tests and results. Bring on everything uni can throw at us.

Because in the end, we only do this once, and once, is never enough. May this term is more fruitful and fun and enjoyable.

Oh shit I just superglued my hand.

Good Things

All Good Things (Come To An End)
by Nelly Furtado

Honestly what will become of me
don’t like reality
It’s way too clear to me
But really life is daily
We are what we don’t see
Missed everything daydreaming

[Chorus:]
Flames to dust
Lovers to friends
Why do all good things come to an end
Flames to dust
Lovers to friends
Why do all good things come to an end
come to an end come to an
Why do all good things come to end?
come to an end come to an
Why do all good things come to an end?

Traveling I only stop at exits
Wondering if I’ll stay
Young and restless
Living this way I stress less
I want to pull away when the dream dies
The pain sets it and I don’t cry
I only feel gravity and I wonder why

Flames to dust
Lovers to friends
Why do all good things come to an end
Flames to dust
Lovers to friends
Why do all good things come to an end
come to an end come to an
Why do all good things come to end?
come to an end come to an
Why do all good things come to an end?

Well the dogs were whistling a new tune
Barking at the new moon
Hoping it would come soon so that they could
Dogs were whistling a new tune
Barking at the new moon
Hoping it would come soon so that they could
Die die die die die

Flames to dust
Lovers to friends
Why do all good things come to an end
Flames to dust
Lovers to friends
Why do all good things come to an end
come to an end come to an
Why do all good things come to end?
come to an end come to an
Why do all good things come to an end?

Well the dogs were barking at a new moon
Whistling a new tune
Hoping it would come soon
And the sun was wondering if it should stay away for a day ’til the feeling went away
And the sky was falling on the clouds were dropping and
the rain forgot how to bring salvation
the dogs were barking at the new moon
Whistling a new tune
Hoping it would come soon so that they could die.

Rotorua, Taupo

April 25, 2008

Next part of my journey included Rotorua and Taupo. Taupo’s actually just a lake so we went there on the third day of our 4-day stay. But anyway the weather wasn’t that great so we didn’t manage to go white-water rafting at Kaituna (I think that’s how you spell it). T.T

Amazingly enough, the first place we went to was… Nando’s. I’ve only been to Nando’s in Malaysia once before so I couldn’t really compare. But the most interesting thing about it was the toilet signs. Which, I must say, will be extremely, hair-pullingly, annoyingly misleading when you’re in a rush.

Terence actually went into both before he figured out which was which. So to those coming to New Zealand, please remember these two very important words!

And since it was raining and there wasn’t much to do anyway the girl at i-Site told us that going for the luge when it’s raining is quite fun. So off we went to the gondola.

No pictures beside the ones taken inside the gondola because after that we were totally soaked and freezing our asses off. And if the luge itself wasn’t exciting and cold and windy enough we had to go up the chairlift 4 times. Mind you, 4 times on a 15-minute trip with all of you exposed to the elements isn’t that great. So much for i-Site’s ‘advice’, never trust everything you hear.

By the way the jackets didn’t help because it soaked right through and became super heavy, as was my pants. So the whole time I was busy shivering and making sure my pants were still on me. Heh.

By the way, the luge is something like go-kart, except you do it down the hill and there’s no motor. It’s just you, the hill, and hopefully the brakes work.

Next day we went to some 3D maze thingy which wasn’t very fun cos we got lost and walked and walked and got real tired. And there’re spider webs too. =.=

In Rotorua we went Zorbing and Swoop too. Which was totally fun although I didn’t try the swoop cos I’ve done bungy before so I reckoned it’ll be the same feeling. Plus I was a bit short in cash. Next time must remember to earn more first before going.

Zorb:

Swoop (which starts at 43m high):

Yes, this is Boon and Terence. It feels like going on the pirate ship thing at Genting except there’s no ship, just a big plastic bag.

At the Swoop place you can also see sheep mountain sheep sea. Ladies and gentlemen, I give you New Zealand.

Next! Wai-O-Tapu (I dunno why there are so many dashes, must be keyboard spoil) which is a thermal park/place/thingy.

And yes, still raining.

But I was so brave and didn’t buy a poncho. Stupid brave me.

I think rain made the pools give out more steam la so it was foggy at the champagne pool. The champagne pool’s super nice la got lots of colours but too bad cannot take proper pic cos too foggy + raining.

Anyway there was this Lady Knox geyser which was supposed to be quite nice and all but all we did was take random pics, like so:

The geyser was quite stupid la the guy threw some soap in to ‘break surface tension lalala more scientific words’ before the geyser erupted (do they?). But anyway quite cool also if this was in my house cos everytime wash clothes and ask people to pay entrance fee to watch!

Damn good idea.

Taupo is famous for its lake. So here’s an obligatory picutre of it:

It was quite cloudy which was good cos we saw rainbow! (Omg why la I like this looking for silver lining in every cloud)

But I still think that the big longkang in Taupo was the best.

The platform on the right is the bungy platform. So if you want to you can touch the big longkang’s water if you want to. No buaya no worries.

Taupo people pee blue pee so cool la. Must be drink too much Powerade.

Anyway it was waktu senja soon enough so we headed back to the lake. Paragliding looks super fun so I must must must try it once I have the chance. And hopefully I won’t be afraid of heights la when I’m doing it else I’ll be increasing sea volume.

Evening + long drive back + approaching rain = going back.

I know this post is getting quite long so hence the last scenery picture!

This is the lake outside Sudima Hotel in Rotorua. Please please don’t stay there unless you like the smell of sulphur cos apperently the lake’s full of sulphur so you can forever smell the wonderful smell of half-rotten eggs all the time. So cool.

So balik! (I’ve been to all three places hahaha I win)

In the News Today

April 24, 2008

KINSHASA (Reuters) – Police in Congo have arrested 13 suspected sorcerers accused of using black magic to steal or shrink men’s penises after a wave of panic and attempted lynchings triggered by the alleged witchcraft.

Reports of so-called penis snatching are not uncommon in West Africa, where belief in traditional religions and witchcraft remains widespread, and where ritual killings to obtain blood or body parts still occur.

Rumours of penis theft began circulating last week in Kinshasa,Democratic Republic of Congo’s sprawling capital of some 8 million inhabitants. They quickly dominated radio call-in shows, with listeners advised to beware of fellow passengers in communal taxis wearing gold rings.

Purported victims, 14 of whom were also detained by police, claimed that sorcerers simply touched them to make their genitals shrink or disappear, in what some residents said was an attempt to extort cash with the promise of a cure.

“You just have to be accused of that, and people come after you. We’ve had a number of attempted lynchings. … You see them covered in marks after being beaten,”Kinshasa’s police chief, Jean-Dieudonne Oleko, told Reuters on Tuesday.

Police arrested the accused sorcerers and their victims in an effort to avoid the sort of bloodshed seen in Ghana a decade ago, when 12 suspected penis snatchers were beaten to death by angry mobs. The 27 men have since been released.

“I’m tempted to say it’s one huge joke,” Oleko said.

“But when you try to tell the victims that their penises are still there, they tell you that it’s become tiny or that they’ve become impotent. To that I tell them, ‘How do you know if you haven’t gone home and tried it’,” he said.

Some Kinshasa residents accuse a separatist sect from nearby Bas-Congo province of being behind the witchcraft in revenge for a recent government crackdown on its members.

“It’s real. Just yesterday here, there was a man who was a victim. We saw. What was left was tiny,” said 29-year-old Alain Kalala, who sells phone credits near a Kinshasa police station.

Hamilton

April 23, 2008

Ok time for pictures! (I resized them one by one hence the lack of a gigantous amount of pictures).

Just realised it’s autumn (already!) so this trip is called Autumn 2008. Anyway first batch of pictures is from the Hamilton leg. Yes there are legs and there are 4 legs in total. So berjaya right my holidays.

First day was spent sleeping in Chiann’s house cos we were waiting for the others to come down from Auckland and they didn’t get the rental car till like afternoon. =.= So no pictures of me sleeping. But at night we went to Balloons Over Waikato, which is one of main events held in Kampung Hamilton.

When they say balloons they don’t mean those type you buy at Kuching Fest. No siree! It’s hot air balloons:

Kan the hot air balloons so nice? And they fly too! It’s like that night they all come down at the uni’s padang and put up a lightshow. And there are fireworks afterwards as well. So cool la. *loves*

And there was this enthusiatic hot air balloon-er (what do you call them anyway). I think he loves the attention a lot.

By the way, Kashin, you’re forever at Balloon’s Over Waikato. But I dunno why security around you is so tight la cannot go near take pictures.

Fireworks! The ending so nice la I want.

Next day we went to Raglan Beach, which apparently is a *famous* black-sand beach. Hence the black and dirty looking pictures.

There were so many seashells on the beack it makes me wanna recite ’she sells sea shells by the sea shore’ over and over again. I made a star using only natural resources! *beams*

And the usual couple photo. ^_^ (My brother likes this smiley I dunno why)

On our way back we stopped at Bridal Veil Falls (or something like that). It’s wasn’t that great I think but it’s a long long way down is you happen to fall. Me no like.

Next day we went to Waitomo Caves to see caves and glowworms. No glowworm pictures because we can’t take pictures of them I dunno why. So there are only caves pictures which are so boring lalala.

But anyway the entrance to one of the caves so scary dunno why they don’t wanna build a lift and force us to spiral down instead. =.=

And here’s a group picture and a picture of me holding an umbrella inside the cave. No it wasn’t raining inside. Hee.

Ok that’s all tata! Omg blogging is so tiring I must be getting lazier and lazier.

Next post will be about Rotorua and Taupo!

Heh.

Port Hills

April 9, 2008

Was great, but I can’t figure out how to mass shrink my pictures to put them up in this blog.

Meanwhile, you can check them out at my facebook.

So anyway, electrical workshop’s over and done with; and I think it was pretty fun too despite it being on the first two days of my holidays. At least now it’s time for a real rest.

This holidays will be a great one I hope.

Autumn

April 5, 2008

I hope I can see leaves falling soon, and hear Terence talking about the wonderful scenery at the UCSA carpark.

But I digress, the most important thing now is that holidays are here and this holidays I must do something that’s fulfilling and yadah yadah which I always promise myself I will but somehow in the end it won’t jadi.

I hope I become more matured this holidays.

Last night we had movie night (organised by Miss Wan Yin) and Inside Man is quite a good movie. A high-IQ movie. Although I still don’t understand what Jodie Foster does exactly.

It’s getting dark and cold and I’m in my room listening to chinese songs whose lyrics I don’t understand.

Heh.
