Good One

April 27, 2009

During the Middle Ages, there were three noblemen squabbling over a piece of land. They eventually decided they would send one knight, with one squire to aid them. The last man standing would get the land.
Kingdom 1’s knight arrived the day before and spend the day training. Kingdom 2’s knight arrived the day before and spend the day getting wasted. Kingdom 3’s knight arrived the day before and did nothing. His squire, however, had a rope and a huge pot. He found the tallest tree, made a noose, and hung the giant pot from it.
The next day, Kingdom 1’s knight is too tired to fight, he sends his squire. Kingdom 2’s knight is too hungover, so he sends his squire. Kingdom 3’s knight was too lazy, so he sends his squire. One the way to the battlefield, Kingdom 1 and 2’s squires run into each other and lo and behold, they’re childhood friends. They decide to team up and take out the other squire and the knights and take the land themselves.
When they get to the battlefield, they find the third squire in the pot in the tree. Try as they might, they can’t seem to defeat him. Why?
Because the squire of the high-pot-in-noose is equal to the squires of the two other sides.

It’s pretty good I must say. Addictive.

Photos

April 25, 2009

Looking back at my old pictures, I can’t believe how much fun I had in INTEC.

Good fun indeed. What I would give to do it all over again.

p.s. As promised, photos are indeed out on Facebook.

Wicked

April 22, 2009

The very first night I was in Melbourne I went to watch Wicked, which was very good in my opinion.

Very good not just because I liked the music, or the characters, or the settings. Very good because it taught me that not everything is what it seems to be, and most importantly, everyone has a side of a story that they can tell and believe that they’re right.

It just like history textbooks being historically correct and yet so full of bias at the same time. Just because we’ve read one side of how things work out doesn’t mean that that side is the correct one. What we should do instead, is to put ourselves in the shoes of the antagonist.

When I was in Melbourne I didn’t think that time would be something that I would be short of, but in the end it was. But overall it was pretty fun in Melbourne, and it didn’t change my mind that I would have enjoyed myself immensely if I studied and stayed there. But I’m not, so make do I will have to.

Raymond’s leaving Christchurch for good today, but somehow it doesn’t feel like a very farewell-y moment for me, perhaps because I will be seeing him in Kuching in the future anyway, so all’s good. But I think he’ll be missed by lots of people, simply because he’s the person he feels comfortable to be as.

I Came Out of Australia

April 18, 2009

Finally knowing who my true friends were.

p.s. Pictures will be on Facebook soon (I hope).

Earth Hour

April 1, 2009

Has come and gone and I don’t feel that the world is a much cleaner/environmental friendly place.

But anything on to happier things I’m heading to Gold Coast this weekend! It’s been ages since I last went to GC so it should be fun. Besides Gold Coast I’ll be heading to Sydney and Melbourne too! Sydney will be an interesting place to go I think, considering all things.

But anyway I’ll be away from 4th April -16th April. I haven’t even started on my trip yet and I’m wondering what to do during winter. Perhaps going back to Malaysia isn’t a bad idea no? Can escape the winter as well. But then this will depend on whether I can get cheap tickets or not.

So half of the first semester of 2009 is going to pass soon. And I’ve learned so much stuff! (Although most of it isn’t exactly engineering-related) And now perhaps I understand why Geri likes Japanese so much now.

syllabarychart1Back to studying!

p.s. By the way Tiger Woods won the Arnold Palmer Invitational, his first win since coming back from a reconstructive knee surgery which ended his 2008 season. I’m sure the tv people are glad he’s back too.
